Using my self drafted V-Neck Cardigan Pattern and an old sweater that I could no longer fit, I sewed up this fun striped cardi for Mingo. Don't you just love a good ole' refashion? I do. I've found that I get some of my best fabric from a piece of clothing that's already hanging in my closet. Actually, I keep a bag of clothing that we can no longer fit or can not donate because of an obvious rip or stain just for refashions.
The first thing I grabbed out of the bag was a bold black and white striped cardigan. It had some piling on the sides and under the sleeves so I figured I could just cut around it to make a smaller cardigan for Mingo and Grace (they usually share unisex clothing).
Using the pattern pieces I cut from the Make Your Own Cardigan Pattern tutorial, I arranged the pattern so that I could reuse the existing button placket and ribbing. I had to make the sweater a bit longer than I would have liked, but at least I didn't have to reattach the ribbing to the bottom of the sweater or make new button holes (#sewingwin). Using the same steps from the DIY Cardigan Tutorial I sewed this cardigan up in no time. Probably because half the work was already done!
