I made a promise to myself, that I would sew more for "me" this year. I usually only blog about projects I make for my children, but I hope to step from behind the camera every now and again to share the projects I made for myself. The ladies behind Petit a Petit and Family and Welcome to the Mouse House have teamed up for the exciting color themed Sewing Series and Giveaway - Shades of Me. I chose BROWN. I love the color brown. Its one of my favorite colors to wear besides black or grey.
I sewed up Burda Style's Illusion Jacket in an upholstery fabric I snagged on sale. I love the shape of the jacket, and the illusion of separates it created. Midway through this project I totally freaked out when I realized my jacket was made from the same fabric as my mother in law's couch. To prevent it from looking like a walking armchair I decided to break up the fabric by adding faux alligator embossed sleeves. What a difference it made!
The neckline on the jacket is pretty wide, so I wrapped a fur collar around it to keep warm.
I hope you all are as inspired to sew more for yourselves as much as I am. Who else is looking forward to the Shades of Me, summer edition? No pressure Celina and Hayley.
Be sure to upload your projects to the Shades of Me LINKY PARTY and check out the other bloggers on the tour. Don't forget to enter the huge GIVEAWAY below.

DeleteHi! This jacket is my February project. I have it all traced and ready to cut! Any comments on fit (e.g. Vs your normal size in burda?) or construction? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteYour jacket is stunning. Nothing like a couch, all style!
Thank you. This was my first Burda pattern so I don't have anything to compare it too. However I would just say to find your measurements on the size chart and cut accordingly. I probably should have cut the 44, to compensate for my hips. Good luck. I would love to see it once its completed.
