I know what you are thinking... "There are more than 3 birds on this dress". Ha! I know, but when I saw this fabric it made me think of one of our favorite songs - Three Little Birds. I made this dress during Kids Clothes Week and I'm finally getting around to posting it. Let's just say I got a little sidetracked! Both of the kids had a cold. Or was it allergies, I still don't know. It was brief and that's all that matters. Just when we got over the colds (or allergies), Grace fell off her wheely onto the concrete and left a pretty nasty bruise on her forehead. Poor baby. It must have been pretty traumatic for her because she randomly brings the incident up in conversation. Oh and I can't forget about what's been eating up all of my free time lately... my garden. Let's just say I'm obsessed with it.
Focus, Farrah! Back to the deets on the dress. The dress was made with about 1 1/2 yards of fabric and a self drafted basic bodice pattern (tutorial coming soon). I can usually get away with 1 yard of fabric for a simple dress like this, but I purchased a little extra to line the bodice and hem the dress a gracious 2 inches. What a difference a lining and a large hem makes, it gives the garment a more finished and structured look
BTW: This is Bella. Grace's body double. If you follow me on Instagram then you probably already know what Grace really feels about her. Every since Bella came to live with us, somebody has been a little more eager to take photos. I'm just saying, a little competition never hurt anyone.
I adore Elizabeth Mitchell's version of Three Little Birds, something about it is just so sweet. I bet you can't listen to it without smiling.
