DIY MINI TOP HAT

I found a free mini top hat tutorial and pattern over at Fleece Fun and had to share it. I did not include photos of the process, because Fleece Fun has an excellent tutorial, plus a video that walks you through each step. The pattern comes in small, medium and large sizes with a sew and no sew option available. These mini top hats are super cute and chic and are popping up all over the place especially in children's photo shoots.

SPRING FEVER DRESS REMIX

Jessica at Me Sew Crazy graciously offered her Spring Fever Dress to Project Run & Play for a pattern remix. Its such a cute dress, I jumped at the opportunity to make it my own. I knew I didn't want to do a dress, so I shortened the bodice and added a sleeve to remix the dress into a layered peplum top.

Here is the Spring Fever Dress:

Here is my version:

SEWING A WARDROBE FOR DOLLY

Pinterest Challenge

Dolly (pronounced doll lee) has been hanging around the "crib" in just a pair of polka dot panties for quite some time now. Come to think of it, she was only wearing panties and some sort of bathrobe when we found her.  At any rate, no one - not even a $5.99 doll from Sam's Club -  should have to walk around in just a panty when I have tons of scrap fabric all over this place. The Pinspiration for this project came from one of my favorite blogs, Made. Dana did an amazing job creating a wardrobe for Twinkies. Here is mine:

Don't tell Grace, but Dolly is the best model ever. She is a professional, she takes direction well, she doesn't make outrageous demands for your iphone and she would never storm off set because she was "all done" taking photographs for the day.

I'm happy I included this project in my Pinterest Challenge. Its brought back so many childhood memories for me. Making doll clothes out of the scraps of fabric I would find on the sewing room floor, was my favorite thing to do as a child.
