Its the final week of Project Run & Play and I'm sewing along. This week's challenge is personal style. I would define Grace's style as modern cool. We (meaning me) prefer yellow and green over pink and inverted pleats over ruffles and frill. Just comfortable clean designed clothing.
Don't you just love when you find a use for a forgotten project! this top was actually a dress I cut for Grace at the end of the last summer, but never got around to sewing it. It's a thin corduroy, so I ended up lining it with fabric from another forgotten project. I simply paired it with a basic pair of black jeggings, I made out of stretchy denim. I think i might make her another one in a different color.
Someone was too preoccupied with Momma's phone to smile for pictures.
I'm a little disappointed I didn't participate as much as I would have liked, but I'll be ready for the next season. If you know of any other linky parties, let me know in the comment section.

The color combination is wonderful! Inverted pleats are awesome...and a preference for me as well (over ruffles). It looks so sweet on her...
ReplyDeleteThat is one of my favorite colors! I'm sad I don't have anything close to it in my fabric stash because you made me want to make a similar shirt for my girlies! The color looks great on her and I love the inverted pleat... very sweet!
ReplyDeleteI love the color, the fabric, the cut, the design - great job and right up my ally!!! I can't wait to see many more things from you int the future, I love your style!
ReplyDeleteI love, love, love this color. It is so fun! I also like the way the pleat is in the front. The great thing about this is that she can be comfortable but look dazzling all at the same time. It is great. I also want to sew along more next time.
ReplyDeleteQuick question for you. My daughter has curly hair as well and I was wondering what your technique for brushing out the knots without hurting her head too much?
~Al
The short answer is: finger combing with some sort of moisturizer.
ReplyDeleteAfrican american hair needs lots of moisture, so i wash her hair once a week with conditioner, give it a good comb through with a wide tooth comb, rinse then towel dry before adding moisturizer (1:2 coconut/water mixture in a spray bottle). I refresh her curls twice a week with the same moisturizer spray.

Farrah, I cannot get over how cute she is! I like your style alot. I'm definitely looking forward to more of your work. Great job!
ReplyDeletethank you all your kind words. they are very encouraging to someone who is trying to find the time to "make it work". i really appreciate it
ReplyDeleteThe color is amazing! I just bought some similar corduroy that I'm hoping will become a spring jacket for my girl. I love the pleats and agree that clean lines trump frills any day. Althought it's fun to throw in a ruffle here and there :)
ReplyDeletedon't get me wrong, grace loves her frill ;)
